Gifting - A Holiday Tradition

You've heard of “re-gifting,”

Did you know there are other forms of “gifting”?

Try these:

Me-Gifting:
The 1st gift of the season…the one you buy for you, gets you into the holiday spirit

De-Gifting:
The moment you decide, “Gee, I don’t think Nephew Larry is any longer gift-worthy"

Includes cousins who drink too much, relatives recently divorced from the family, aunts/uncles who have lost their fortunes

He-Gifting:

Man-to-man gifting, liquor, Will Ferrell movies, golf balls, cigars, Will Ferrell movies

No he-gifter has ever given another man a copy of "Dirty Dancing.”

Free-Gifting (A specialty among media execs):

Giving away something you got for free at work.

Often includes sports tickets to the company suite at Comerica or the Palace

Typical note in the gift card:

"I thought you and your family would enjoy seeing the Clippers at the Palace."

Pre-Gifting:

Buying generic gifts that you can give to the special someone you complete forgot.

Key-Gifting:

The suck-up gift you give to the boss

Suggest line for the note:

“You’re a genius. Thanks for making my career happen.”

DPTV Gifting: The gift you give to public television

…five minute, right now, write that check to your public television station…help support public television this holiday season.

Hey, you got this far into this…pass along this note, right after you write your check.

Happy Holidays.
